Gilzem, an idyllic village in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate, is picturesquely situated in the southern Eifel, around 12 kilometers south of Bitburg and 17 kilometers north of Trier. The village was first mentioned in documents in 1212 under the name "Gelime".
